Shionogi’s corona medication and antipyretic analgesic

This morning’s newspaper said it was filed for approval. They said it improved respiratory symptoms such as sore throat and coughing, but did not improve fatigue, body aches, feverishness and coughing.

I wrote in a previous blog that Hansen solubility parameter (HSP) is like this.
Molecular design using bioequivalence would be considered separately.

So here is a simple collection of antipyretic analgesic molecules.
I’ll show you their structures in the “SMILES molecular structure viewer” that I’ve recently started using.

If you have the structural formula of SMILES, you can calculate Hansen Solubility Parameters (HSP) using Y-MB function of HSPiP software. (This calculation is using the parameters for the next version 6)

This HSP shows that some of the antipyretic analgesics have very similar HSPs. (Pharmacy majors may use the similar logKow to get an idea, but we use HSP to get an idea.)

For the unfamiliar, let’s plot the HSPs of these antipyretic analgesics in 3-D Hansen space.

The blue sphere shows the general solvents. Click on the blue sphere and the name of the solvent will be displayed. The red sphere shows the antipyretic and analgesic drugs. Click on the red sphere to see the name of the drug.
We can see that about 5 red spheres are in a very similar region. And we think that they have very similar solubility.

Some people think that it is better to take acetaminophen (Caronal or Tylenol), which has less anti-inflammatory effects, instead of aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as loxoprofen or ibuprofen as antipyretics after vaccination. Find out where they sit in the three dimensions.

In addition to those, there is a big green ball. This is the plot of the HSP of the entire Shionogi medicine. In addition, the HSP of the left part of Shionogi’s drug is a cyan sphere. This is very close to the antipyretic analgesic area.
The HSP of the middle part of Shionogi’s drug is a yellow sphere. Finally, the right part is magenta.
